About Us

Oregon Marathi Shala (OMS) is a non-profit school affiliated with Oregon Marathi Mandal (OMM). Marathi Shala project is initiated by Bruhan Maharastra Mandal of North America (BMM).  

OMS is solely run by our dedicated volunteers with the main purpose to teach Marathi culture and Marathi language to future generations residing in Oregon. Our aim is to empower students with the ability to read, write and communicate in Marathi. Our students get exposure to Marathi Culture by learning about and celebrating different traditions at school. They also get an opportunity to showcase their newly acquired talent with Marathi language skills in various OMM programs including Ganesh Utsav, Navratri-Bhondla, Oregon Community Group song presentation of Marathi Abhiman Geet, Kids Talent Show, OMS Sneha Sammelan (Annual Day at the end of the year)

We are happy to include any non-Marathi speaking students who enjoy learning a new language!

OMS started its first academic year in 2015-16 and is now into its eighth academic year in 2022-23.
